Six people were recently arrested in Barstow during a sting operation.
Each individual faces different
drug charges, including possession of a controlled substance and possession with the
intent to sell. Three of the six California residents have already been
arraigned for their alleged crimes, and they have all entered not guilty pleas.
The Barstow Police Department Street Enforcement Team was led to investigate
a home in Victorville, but exactly what led the team to investigate is
not entirely clear. The home belongs to two of the three suspects who
have been arraigned -- a 45-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman. The
investigators suspected that drug sales were taking place within the home,
and they were able to obtain a search warrant.
The man, who had a prior felony conviction, was accused of possessing a
handgun; additionally, his two passengers were arrested on outstanding
warrants. The woman as well as a fifth individual were arrested on the
street after being searched by the police. The woman is accused of possessing
methamphetamine and cocaine, and the other individual was arrested for
possessing meth and violating the terms of his probation. The sixth suspect
was arrested inside the residence once the search warrant was executed.
The three individuals who have already pleaded not guilty to their drug
charges are the two owners of the residence as well as the man who was
on probation. The California charges against the other three are not clear,
but they have each reportedly posted bond. As the individuals begin their
criminal processes, they would do well to ensure that all of their legal
rights under state and federal laws are safeguarded as they prepare their defenses.
